"Dr. Zan Holmes is a pioneer and a trailblazer. He's also a revolutionary and an "out of the box" thinking minister. Zan is not only a preaching Pastor. He is also a professor of preaching and has taught Homiletics at SMU and the seminary in Dallas and at other seminaries throughout the nation."

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.,
Senior Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago

"Dr. Zan W. Holmes has a powerful voice for justice. He's a mentor to ministers and public figures and considered one of the greatest pastors in the world today. "A powerful communicator of the Gospel and a person who walked with seeming ease through both the corridors of power and the streets of powerlessness."

The Rev. George Mason,
Pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church
Dallas, Texas

The Dallas Morning News once described St. Luke as "one of the most politically connected churches" in the state.

Dr. Zan Holmes was one of only two African Americans serving in the Texas House of Representatives, while Texas Democrat Barbara Jordan of Houston was serving in the Texas Senate.

"Because of Dr. Zan Holmes' strong personality and vision for interdenominational efforts, Zan was able to pull together a coalition of Black Pastors from denominations as disparate as the Church of God in Christ, the Apostolic Church, the Presbyterian Church, the United Methodist Church, the National Baptist and Progressive Baptist Church, the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and the Pentecostal-Holiness Church.

Together these black pastors and their congregations have built and now operate in excess of 100 units of housing, low to moderate income apartment building and Federally Funded housing complexes, doing for 'the least of these' as Jesus commanded."

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
Senior Pastor
Trinity United Church of Christ
Chicago, Illinois
