"Let My People Go! A Spiritual Journey Along the Underground Railroad" brings to life in song and dance the journey that many brave slaves took for freedom.
The Michigan Premiere of this unique show is Feb 29 - Mar 1 at Marygrove College Liberal Arts Theatre, 8425 W. McNichols Road, Detroit.
Featured are the Rackham Symphony Choir, the Marygrove College Chorale and the Hartford Memorial Bach Choir all under the baton of Suzanne Mallare Acton, conductor.
Featured soloists are Alaina Brown, soprano, Leah Dexter, mezzo, Anthony P. McGlaun, tenor, and David Vaughn, bass. The dramatic presentation features narration by Madelyn Porter and Council Cargle, African drums, and the Marygrove College Dance Company with choreography by Penny Godboldo. Theatrical direction is by Madelyn Porter. Alvin Waddles is on piano.
Two Shows: Friday, February 29, at 7 PM and Saturday, March 1, at 2 PM.
There is a school performance on Friday, February 29, at 10:30 for students.
Tickets for all performances are $10 for students, $25 general admission. There are Patron Tickets for $50 that include a reception with artists following the Friday, 7:00 PM show.
Groups of 10 or more get a 10% discount, and 20 or more receive a 20% discount.
