On Friday, November 10, 2006, the music department of Kadesh Baptist Church (located at 20361 Plymouth Road, in Detroit, MI) presented a live recording with the theme being “Overcomers,” and Detroit Gospel.com was in the house. The fellowship hall was set up like a theater, allowing the standing-room-only crowd great viewing for this wonderful event. The emcee for the evening was recording artist, Darius Twyman, who kept the audience engaged in praise and worship. There were many other local artists in the house who performed on some of the recordings. First Lady of Kadesh, Pastor Phyllis Foster; Pastor Lydia Wright; Pastor Seon Thompson; and Oscar Hayes participated in the recording with vocal leads. Gospel artists Michael Fletcher (of the Michael Fletcher Chorale), Derrick Milan (of Derrick Milan and the Krew), Min. Darryl Houston, and Mona Nero Butler, were also on hand and being blessed by the musical presentation.

The minister of music, Min. Kevin Hobson and his lovely wife, Teresa Hobson – who is also assistant minister of music, composed a marvelous collection of songs for the CD. Songs recorded during the evening included “Breakthrough” written by Kevin Hobson; “Jesus, I Love You,” a Walter Hawkins tune, arranged by Herman Harris and lead by Pastor Phyllis Foster; “You Can Make It,” written by Kevin Hobson and lead by Teresa Hobson; “Don’t Give Up,” written by Kevin Hobson and lead by Pastor Lydia Wright; “At Calvary,” arranged by K. Hobson; “Overcomer,” written by K. Hobson; and, “This is How We Overcome,” lead by K. Hobson.

It was a wonderful evening of praise. Be sure to check back on Detroit Gospel.com for the March 2007, CD release party announcement. God’s continued blessings on the Kadesh Music Ministry.
