Calvin J. Golden: Bio
Estella
Chambers: Bio Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Calvin Golden knew from an early age that music would be a major part of his mission. At the age of 13 years old, Calvin had an ear for music and was called upon to help teach the church choir. Although he was only thirteen and the church drummer, his father saw the special talent he possessed and appointed him, minister of music. This opportunity only heightened his passion and love for all façades of music. As Calvin grew older it was evident that he had a special love and compassion for people. When Calvin became 17 he founded the Shekinah Glory Fellowship Chorale, a group of over 40 individuals. Calvin & Shekinah Glory traveled across the US as well as throughout the cities of Michigan. In 1993, Calvin Golden & the Shekinah Glory Fellowship Chorale competed in the Thorn Apple Valley "Something to Sing About" and placed 1st runner-up. During this time he developed himself as a music and songwriter and in 1997, Calvin wrote "My Soul Is A Witness," which was released on the Peter's Rock Mass Choir album entitled "Over and Over." In 1999, Calvin lost his mother and only a few years later his sister. This was a very hard time for him. However, the loss fueled his love and passion for God, he gained the strength he needed to push closer to making his mother and sister proud by focusing and pursuing God's will for his life. Now stronger and more dedicated than ever, fully assured that this is his time and season, Calvin reveals his trials, triumphs, passion and love for God through his lyrics and music. As time passed, Calvin embarked on a solo career with a much smaller background. Calvin has sung background for James Moss, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Damita Haddon and Charles Lassiter. He has also sung background and traveled with Deitrick Haddon and was the lead vocalist on two songs on the release entitled, "Supernatural," as well as background vocals on the 2004 V.O.U. All-Stars Edition album, on the song entitled, "My Soul Says Yes." In 2003. Calvin Golden entered the Exalt Him Talent Competition, hosted by Family Christian Bookstores and Daywind Music and was the 1st runner up. Calvin went on to perform on the nationally acclaimed Bobby Jones Gospel show and regularly performs at the Motor City Praise Fest sponsored by McDonald's, Farmer Jacks and Chevrolet. Calvin Golden has shared the stage with Dawkins & Dawkins, May Mary, Virtue, Deitrick Haddon & V.O.U., the Gospel Gangsters, LaShun Pace, Men of Standard, Vicki Winans, James Hall and Worship & Praise, Marvin Sapp, Dottie Peoples, Derrick Starks & Today's Generation, and Fred Hammond. It is now time for the anointed psalmist to stand on a mainstream level and introduce the world to praise and worship in excellence, and this is his purpose. To deliver the word of God through song full of the power and anointing and the purpose of God in the spirit of excellence. To break barriers and eliminate color lines and help to unite people regardless of race, background or class. The unique combination of anointing, coupled with talent and a style that is our own has defined Calvin Golden & Shekinah as one of the premiere performers of the 21st century. Calvin Golden's music can be heard in rotation on WJLB FM98's "Strong Inspirations" with Deborah Smith-Pollard and on WMUZ's Gospel Station, 1340AM WEXL. >>Click Here for a music sample from "Thank U" For booking or information, please contact: Calvin J.
