Hardest Working Woman in Gospel Wins Two Stellar Awards For Latest CD “HOW I GOT OVER”
The Hardest Working Woman in Gospel, Vickie Winans, co-hosted the 25th Annual Stellar Awards last night with Kirk Franklin and Donnie McClurkin. Nominated in ten categories, the dynamic vocalist took home two Stellar Awards for her first CD on her own Destiny Joy record label. The “How I Got Over” project won Winans the coveted Female Vocalist of the Year award and also Music Video of the Year for the song of the same name. Visit www.thestellarawards.com for airdates. The radio single of “How I Got Over” is currently #3 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart with a bullet and the video is in heavy rotation on. Winans wrote the song of personal survival after grieving her mother’s death and triumphing over a successful contractual release from her prior record label.
The self-managed artist is also a successful businesswoman who owns a Detroit-area jewelry store, Accents by Vickie Winans. Winans burst on the gospel music scene in 1985 with her signature smash “We Shall Behold Him.” She’s remained one of gospel music’s Top 10 artists with appearances on NBC Today and Oprah. She has appeared on the cover of Jet magazine, served as celebrity spokesperson for Daimler-Chrysler and Quaker Oats. Other fan-favorites include the #1 songs “As Long As I Got King Jesus”, “Shake Yourself Loose” and “The Rainbow.”
