Aretha Franklin’s life has inspired us all. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit and legacy live on within her music. Songs like “Respect,” “Call Me” & “Freeway of Love” are some of her hits. But did you know that Aretha also performed Classical Music?
Let’s celebrate Aretha’s musical career with Classical, R&B AND Gospel!
THIS YEAR’S Classical Goes to Church “How I Got Over” is more than an amazing concert with stellar entertainment at an iconic Detroit venue named after Aretha Franklin… it is an opportunity for all those who loved Aretha to help keep her legacy alive by donating to a fund that will create yearly scholarships for deserving students in Aretha’s name AND donate a percentage of those proceeds to pancreatic cancer research to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF).

A percentage of proceeds will be donated to Better Treatments for Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETRF) – Detroit Chapter and to fund the Aretha Franklin Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship will be managed by Minerva Education and Development Foundation (“MEDF”) which was founded in 1992 by members of the Detroit chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. To date, MEDF has awarded over half a million dollars to local students and organizations.
