Morgan State University
Choir Comes To DETROIT
The
critically acclaimed and internationally recognized Morgan State University
Choir will be presented in concert Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 4 p.m. The performance will take place at Second
Baptist Church of Detroit located at 441-61 Monroe St., Detroit Michigan 48226,
where Rev. Dr. Kevin M. Turman is
pastor. This performance is bound to inspire, uplift, and energize all who
attend.
According
to Mrs. Hall, “supporting this HBCU choir reflects our goals as part of the
Board of Christian Social Concerns at the church.” The Morgan State Choir has performed around
the world, and with several major symphony orchestras, including The
Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic. They recently performed at the White House
for the Tribute to Nelson Mandela.
For more
than 30 years, Nathan Carter was the conductor of this ensemble. Dr. Eric Conway is currently the director of
the choir and chairperson of the University’s Fine Arts Department. Under his leadership, the choir has performed
in Russia, South Africa, Colombia, China, Brazil, Jamaica, Italy, and a special
performance at a service honoring Rosa Parks, the first woman to lie in state
in the U. S. Capitol rotunda.
Admission is by donation at the door
(suggested $20) and there will be a free-will, love offering. The general public is invited to come out and
share in this extraordinary, wonderful, musical experience.
