I had to dig deep to find this song. I was in a place where I could just hear GOD saying, “Just give me your heart.” Him showing me how everything I needed was in Him. He told me he was giving me a new sound and he definitely did.
I was in a place where I had gotten overwhelmed with just the everyday responsibilities of life; trying to juggle a music career, being a wife and mother, and working a job. I needed some time to get my priorities together; which was first, get my family stable, and [then] put myself in a better financial position, so I had to step away from my music for a season. And when I felt it was time, 2 years later, I finally got the “OK” in my spirit to release my new sound and song.
My advice is to stay in your own lane. Own your uniqueness. Be yourself. People will value you more when you own who you are. Believe in your talent and what God has placed in you. Don’t take no for an answer. “No” just means find another door. But more importantly, believe you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Fun fact: I pretended I was Kem and Chante Moore while I was writing the song. I thought to myself, ‘what would they sound like on this song?’ It took me only 2 hours to write the song. God had given it to me in its entirety. I didn’t have to even search for it. He just downloaded it straight into my spirit.
