The Whitfield Company was founded and organized by the late Minister Thomas A. Whitfield, Jr. – “The Maestro”– in 1977. The “Company “, as they are known, is a community-based aggregation of talented Ministers of Music, Soloists, Directors, Musicians and Ministers of the Gospel, each representing diverse denominations from the Detroit area and surrounding communities.
The concert will feature many of the Company’s most popular songs, such as “I’m Encouraged,” “Hallelujah Anyhow” and “Hold On.” A special tribute in song will also be performed by songstress and Thomas Whitfield protégé, Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
“Through this concert, we are hoping to celebrate the music legacy that Tommy developed, and to uphold his standards of excellence for contemporary songs, majestic anthems, and soul-stirring traditional gospel music,” said Juliette Cooper, a member of the Company. ”
