“The hardest working woman in gospel” was working hard and early this morning on Detroit’s West side at The Upper Room Christian Entertainment Center. Her highly anticipated “Vickie Winans’ Blow-Out Garage and Trunk Sale” is in full swing and judging by the line of folks waiting before the doors opened at 10AM, it is another successful enterprise for Detroit’s own Vickie Winans.

DetroitGospel.com reps, Renee’ and Mary Crosby, were in line with everyone else this morning as workers brought in a truckload of Vickie’s items. Everything from speakers to gowns filled The Upper Room and the crowd was eager to be among the first to see and select. We were told that another truck would be arriving shortly.

Vickie was glamorous in a black leather studded jacket, and greeted the crowd from behind the cash-out table as we entered. A Vickie Winans CD playing through the loudspeakers, helping to create a joyous and exciting atmosphere. One of the first questions asked by an entering gentleman was whether Vickie was getting ready to “get up out of” Detroit. Vickie assured us that she wasn’t leaving the city.

While some were greeting and asking questions, others were swooping down on the lavish dresses, gowns, and coats for sale. Even DetroitGospel.com’s Renee’ was able to find a juicer, that Vicki said she’d never used, for the rock bottom price of $20. Another popular item was a grey leather with mink trimmed coat that was going for $600 (see photo). Bibles, bobbleheads, and CD’s were also going fast.

Vickie Winans’ Blow-Out Garage & Trunk Sale is Weds., May 2, and Thurs., May 3, from 10AM to 8PM at The Upper Room Christian Entertainment Center (23821 Grand River in Detroit). A portion of proceeds will go to college scholarships.
